Artwork Title: Displacement / Renewal
This is a Digital Twin project. We ask you to slow down and look, to fight against our collective habit to swipe and scroll.
Artist Statement
In recent years, the subject of my painting practice is mainly landscape, not told in its entirety, but in detail. Branches, roots, tree trunks, ruins, stones, rocks, water, elements that tell of a past life and of something that through painting is reborn. It is not mere description of the landscape but becomes itself the subject and at the same time a means of research, investigating it even in three-dimensional forms and through large woodcut compositions on wood. The artist’s eye is nomadic, catching in the landscape the best place to investigate the pictorial medium and go beyond it. Through the woodcut printing technique I can endlessly render the chosen detail and always give it a new semblance, through the different positioning of the printed forms. Large compositions, such as landscape, are fragmented, composed, dense with forms and meanings that are renewed….but only if we really feel free.
About Digital Twin
Digital Twin is a digital based project aimed at presenting a fresh perspective. It is artwork captured digitally in an original location, showcasing the interplay of light on surfaces, that alters the way art is experienced and opening the viewer up to novel ways of seeing. In this digital environment we ask the viewer to slow down and look, to fight against our collective habit to swipe and scroll.
